Maimai Creek 2011 Pinot Gris
The Hawke's Bay grape growing region is situated on the east coast of New Zealand and is bounded in the west by the Kaweka mountain range and in the east by the Pacific Ocean. Hawke's Bay, is loved for its sunny climate, fabulous beaches, sheltered coastal plains and long-established vineyards.

Total Acidity: 7.1gm/l
It's gently fruity and aromatic showing citrus, pear and a hint of creamy characters. The palate is generously flavoured with subtle sweetness and balanced acidity leading to an appealing juicy finish. Very friendly and approachable.
Crushing / Pressing: Hand pick, whole bunch press. Cold settled overnight then racked off gross lees for ferment. Hard pressings were kept separate then combined once fined.
Fermentation: Fermented in new French oak with selected aromatic yeast. Fermented at approximately 13-15°. Fermentation lasted 4 weeks. Following ferment the wine was lees stirred weekly for 2 1/2 months to add texture and complexity.
Barrel Handling: New Frenck oak for 1 month.
Finning: The wine was protein stabilised using Bentonite then cold stabilized.
Filtration: The wine was filtered off tartrates and finings.
